BOX SCORE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (9-10, 4-6 SSC) fell short against the Eckerd Tritons (14-5, 7-3 SSC), falling, 78-72, Wednesday at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.

Tim Traversa  (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) had a perfect shooting night, shooting 6-for-6 en route to a career-high 15 points. He also tallied five rebounds and three assists. Shaun Pratl (Jr., Chicago Ridge, Ill.) filled in the box score well, recording team-highs with seven rebounds and four assists. He scored 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting.

The Sharks started strong as they jumped out to an 11-4 lead in less than four minutes. They would control the tempo over the first ten minutes and would lead by as much as 11 points with 10:24 remaining on the clock before the break. The Tritons would take over the final ten minutes of the opening half. They outscored the Sharks 25-13 over that time span and entered the break with a 40-39 lead. Pratl scored nine of his 14 points in the opening period.

NSU struggled to find a rhythm in a second half that was plagued with turnovers and fouls. The Sharks would commit 13 turnovers and foul the Tritons 17 times. Eckerd shot 31 of its 48 free throws, a season-high, in the final half. The Tritons controlled the lead for the majority of the second half but the Sharks always stayed in striking distance. However, NSU could never catch Eckerd as the road team took its largest lead of the game at eight points with less than a minute remaining.

Seniors Teddy Tassy (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and Robert Huntington (Perth, Australia) chipped in 10 points apiece as each went 3-for-6 from the floor. Louie Schonauer (Jr., Lincoln, Ill.) tied his career-high in rebounds with five and also scored eight points. Iran Hollis (Jr., Hollywood, Fla.) scored seven points and brought down five boards.

The Sharks will hit the road Saturday, Feb. 4 as they face the Florida Southern Mocs in Lakeland, Fla. at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on 640 Sports.
